“The collection – explains Elena Rosellini, export marketing manager by Viero Decoratives – “includes three decorative finishes and one signature artwork. Each has its own personality, designed to dress a space with the same attention and research used to tailor a garment. Each is also available in three curated color options. These finishes aren’t just meant to decorate—they’re meant to inspire. They’re created to suggest, to evoke, to leave room for the creativity of architects, interior designers, and planners. The wall becomes a blank canvas for design expression.”

• Cangiante A satin finish with a silky look and a smooth surface. Its dynamic reflections enhance the wall with subtle chromatic shifts depending on the light angle—soft pink, blue, hazelnut, gold, and mother-of-pearl tones. • Tramato A textured finish inspired by raw silk threads, with a rhythmic surface of solids and voids that create a natural interplay of light and shadow. I like to imagine the connection between the wall and the human body, and the designer as a tailor.”

A custom color palette for silk-inspired walls

The tailor-made approach behind Setae Lucensis has led to the creation of a bespoke color palette. “With Setae Lucensis,” says Leonardo Pelagatti, color expert at Viero Decoratives, “we wanted to tell the story of color through material. But not just any material—a noble, living, evocative one. Like silk. Since we can’t always touch a wall (almost never, in fact), we’ve used synesthesia to stimulate other senses: visual, emotional, imaginative. The tactility of silk, its shimmer, and its changing appearance under the light became the inspiration for finishes that are not only to be seen, but felt. The color works in synergy with the product and its application. The result is the ‘appearance’ that gives us that silk-like visual sensation.”

Setae Lucensis made its global debut on May 31 during Lucca Fashion Weekend, where it was also officially introduced to the Italian market. On this occasion, Fabrizio Da Prato, wall stylist and artist involved in the development of the collection, presented a live artistic performance inspired by the Setae Lucensis color palette and the theme of textile decoration.
